New Delhi [India], September 6 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Himachal Pradesh Collegium to reconsider the names of two senior district judges of state for elevation as judges of HP High Court.
A bench of justices Hrishikesh Roy and Prashant Kumar Mishra said that it appears that the decision was of the Chief Justice alone and there was no collective discussion.
The court made it clear that the collegium has to deliberate collectively and reconsider the recommendations of the two senior district judges Chirag Bhanu Singh and Arvind Malhotra in accordance with Supreme Court resolutions. The court observed that the High Court decision-making process was vitiated.
The two senior district judges of Himachal Pradesh have moved to the top court alleging that HC Collegium did not consider their merit and seniority while recommending other judges for elevation as judges of the High Court.
The detailed order copy is awaited. (ANI)
