Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 23 (ANI): KT Rama Rao, Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has lodged a formal complaint regarding political violence against BRS party members allegedly perpetrated by Congress party cadres, coupled with police negligence.
Rao has urged the Director General of Police (DGP) in Suryapet to take swift action against those involved in the Tirumalagiri attack and the assaults on journalists.
The complaint highlights that such incidents, driven by political interference, have resulted in false cases being filed and acts of violence committed against opposition leaders.
Earlier today, Rao held a press conference, stating that the party staged a peaceful protest across the state on Thursday at all Mandal and constituency centres, focusing on the issue of the farmer’s loan waiver.
Rao stated, “Yesterday, we staged a peaceful protest across the state in all Mandal and constituency centres on the farmer’s loan waiver issue. During this protest, two incidents occurred. In Suryapet, Tirumalagiri town, our BRS workers were staging a peaceful demonstration. About 50 Congress goons, in collusion with the police and under the influence of alcohol, attacked us, pelting stones, eggs, and crude bombs. However, our workers did not retaliate. The police destroyed the tents and aided the Congress goons. The Chief Minister is inefficient.”
He also expressed his dismay at the police’s role in the matter.
“We sympathise with the police force, but it’s unacceptable for some officers to misuse their authority in this manner,” KTR said.
He warned that power is transient and that those in authority should act with responsibility rather than excessive enthusiasm.
Rao further accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of being a “Delhi slave,” stating that Reddy has made 20 trips to Delhi and demanding an apology from him.
He added, “He is a ‘Delhi slave’ who has gone to Delhi for the 20th time. Yesterday, two women journalists in the CM’s hometown of Kondareddypally were attacked by Congress goons. They even chased the women journalists from Kondareddypally to Kalwakurthy.”
Rao demanded that the Chief Minister explain why his party workers insulted women.
“Why did your party workers insult the women? If you are a man, come to the villages without security. Let’s go to any village. Not a single village has completed the loan waiver so far,” Rao added.
The BRS delegation expressed deep concern over what they described as a recent trend of police officers acting with “over-enthusiasm.”
“The brand image of Telangana and Hyderabad should not be damaged. Do not mistake our patience for inefficiency. Do not test our patience. We will retaliate if necessary. We have requested the DGP to take action against those police officers who are aligning with political leaders,” Rao said.
Additionally, he mentioned that if Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has any issues, he should address them with the HYDRA Commissioner, Ranganath.
Jagadish Reddy, a BRS member, stated that when the farmers protested, they did not receive the loan waiver. Consequently, at the request of BRS Chief KCR, they staged a state-wide protest. (ANI)
