Bemetara (Chhattisgarh) [India], July 27 (ANI): Three persons died due to suspected inhalation of toxic gas inside a well in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara on Saturday, police said.
According to officials, the incident occurred in Kua village, Bemetara. The victims have been identified as Atmaram Sahu (55), Ramkumar Dhruv (45), and Rakesh Sahu (25).
“A 55-year-old man, Atmaram Sahu, entered a well for cleaning and fell unconscious. Two others, including Ramkumar Dhruv and Rakesh Sahu, also entered the well using a rope to help him and fell unconscious,” police said.
Locals in the area raised an alarm, informing the police and local administration.
Upon receiving information, Navagarh Tehsildar Vinod Banjare arrived at the scene.
An SDRF team was called from Bhilai and all three were taken out of the well and declared dead.
“Locals suspect that there could be some poisonous gas inside the well,” officials said.
Bemetara additional SP Jyoti Singh said that the exact cause of death will be determined only after post-mortem examinations and forensic analysis.
